Foursquare - Find Places to Eat, Drink, and Visit App Reviews

I find Foursquares ratings to be the most accurate of all the major rating/review services out there.

Really wish you all would just merge the two apps again. Your dreams of getting one or the other acquired by a bigger company have failed. Just merge them back. It will be ok.. I promise. Looks like a ghost town on Foursquare. No tips submitted for years on most places since the breakup. I found 3 businesses in there that have been closed for years. No one updates through this app anymore. Ill check back again in a year or so to see if things are back to normal.

I downloaded this app and started looking around for reviews of places near where Im traveling. Theres a feature that highlights posts of folks who are regulars. First post I saw of a regular was a nasty, sexually suggestive comment. These should be screened out! I wont be using this app and will delete it.

I used foursquare for years. Now that you can no longer check in, Im sad. I dont want to go elsewhere to check in, I want to stay here. Should not have split the apps.

Great new app. I love being able to search for places in a city for lunch, dinner, etc. and get honest reviews by people who frequent the place.

Great search forward feature and better than Yelp.

Too slow to update closed businesses. Reported several mistakes and closed businesses but they are never updated. Until FourSquare starts keeping up with consumer updates they will be a second class company. Sad

I originally signed up for 4SQ so I could get access to discounts and other deals at restaurants and other places where I checked in. As the years went by, the deals disappeared, the app split into two different apps with Swarm (so annoying), they got rid of mayorships and he other things that made the app fun... then re-instituted them in a less fun and more annoying way. Now, the only place near me that has a deal is a Pep Boys - and thats it! No restaurants or other places people actually go to on a regular basis (sorry Pep Boys). At this point, there really is no reason to have the app(s) unless you want to keep track of your movements and check-ins.

Foursquare is great, but a couple of really annoying features really bring this app down. First is the widget, always asking/assuming Im at some random place around town. Why not just have a simpler widget that gives me the option to select what Im looking for nearby? Second is the always-on location services. This really shouldnt be necessary and it bugs me that this is the only app on my phone that requests this, and I used several apps like this one for comparison. Other than these shortcomings though, I like this app over Yelp or TripAdvisor for sure, and its more fun to use than just Google Maps. 3 out of 5 thumbs-up ? ? ? ? ?

Ive been using foursquare consistently since 2009, and I was among the first 40,000 users. Foursquare and swarm are now more fun and engaging than theyve ever been. Its great to see that some of my favorite features (points, leaderboard, and stickers) have returned and that they are now more compelling than ever. Im anxious to see where this journey that Foursquare is embarking upon leads the company. With all the data that they are now gathering with "Pilgrim", passive recs should improve greatly in the coming weeks and months. Foursquare is now better than it’s ever been. I’m going to remain a loyal user of an app that has brought so much fun, joy, and adventure into my life over the years.

I dont like this new version, never and will be,, the old version without swarm is always the better foursquare period!

It was a gutsy move for Foursquare to split into two apps, but Im seeing the payoff in now having two very lightweight apps for different purposes. Foursquare is the place review and discovery guide. Swarm is for check-ins and the game aspects of the old Foursquare. I particularly think the new Foursquare app benefits from the removal of the game features. It outdoes Yelp in appearance and is much easier to navigate. Keep up the good work!

It took .05 seconds for us to tell the waitress what we wanted to eat, which was too long I guess. "SO NOTHING THEN" Was the last thing we heard before she walked away and never came back.

I love how I gain expertise. Really wish I didnt have to have two apps (Swarm). Unfortunately my phone is old and doesnt have the current operating system so I cant have Swarm and get cool badges, but hey! The version of this app still works! :D

There simply is nothing better for fining great restaurants and bars. Love it!

Too bad this doesnt have a category for truck stops. It looks like I visit a lot of "Gas Stations".

No matter where Ive been, home or abroad, trust the app and you wont eat and drink anywhere less than superb

Ive found the best restaurants using this app while traveling. Very user friendly & much better than yelp.
