Foursquare - Find Places to Eat, Drink, and Visit App Reviews

When I need a place to go, I dont have time to read essay- like reviews like from other review apps/sites sites. Foursquares got things covered in 100+ countries

Pretty good stuff.

I wish I could add places that I have visited but Foursquare doesnt happen to find. Also, I was in two places within a block of themselves but I was only allowed one entry. This really should be updated. Its not fully functional or helpful.

Update: this app has been ruined. Swarm is the new checkin app and its not very good. Foursquare is supposed to be a super advanced personalized recommendation engine, but based on 5,000 checkins all over the county the top recommendation is a bar. I dont even drink, and have never checked into a bar before. Foursquare should know that with all the data it has collected about me. So much for your fancy personalized search. Original review: Foursquare offers great recommendations on places to go in town. I find the foursquare recommendations to be better than yelp or urban spoon because they are based on more than just a rating. Foursquare will tell you which places have a good rating but also which places are popular and have returning customers. I have found some amazing restaurants with it. If you are not getting good recommendations it could be because you are not checking in or there are not enough people in your town checking in. I also love checking in and exporting my checkins to google maps to see all my travels. Overall this is a great app and is a lot of fun! Have been using it daily since over 3 years.

Unlike other apps I feel like I can actually trust the reviews here. Made by real people who arent paid elites or the restaurant owner ...

The list feature is perfect for traveling. I love that the lists correspond to a gps map with all the places I want to go. As a tourist, Foursquare is invaluable. Its much easier and prettier to use than Googles My Maps. The rating system is simpler and better than other review sites. Three out of five stars can mean different things to different people, but everyone knows what a sad face means. One criticism: edits take way too long to be approved.

Update: 2/9/17 Just reposting my previous review because this app still is and has been garbage since they came up with Swarm and broke the app in two. Original: No more badges. Also, constant annoying pop-ups asking me to download Swarm, with the decline text extremely small and extremely close to the download button. If I wanted Swarm I would have downloaded it. Stop asking. Jerks. And bring back badges. Youve sucked all the fun out of this app and its starting to lose its appeal and usefulness.

For those who love to enjoy and share that joy

I can make reviews very simply and best feature is the way I am able to upload pictures. A list of pictures is shown from the area (they read the EXIF metadata of all pictures I guess) which is super handy to pick up the pictures quickly in a long list.

Has been an asset when traveling finding new location to experience. Liking it so far will update more as usage progresses.

Been using Foursquare since it was dodgeball back in the day. Its always been and still is today one of my favorite (and most useful) apps.

Stop the email notifications! Crap app!

I really enjoy this app. The latest update made writing down tips extremely difficult because typing becomes sluggish and nearly impossible. Besides that its a good app that needs a bit more of a following from the greater masses. Update: the tips section still crashes my app on occasions, its been several months of this. Whats up four square?

I think it would be great to add a children option under the good for filter heading. (High chairs, booster seats, changing tables... it is always nice to know what a place has.)

It has all close locations that many other apps neglect.

Love the app for saving places to visit, creating lists, finding new places, and planning trips. Unfortunately the upvoting and downvoting doesnt seem to actually impact the order in which tips show up, especially if looking at filtered tips. Not sure why upvoting would be a thing if it actually doesnt get moved up in the list??

Interesting app to get a full reviews and insight about where you want to go, think its good to have a menu part in restaurants or cafeterias to give full information about it, even a part which users would upload pictures of menus, thanks for keeping up to work!??

YOU STOPPED LETTING ME CHECK IN TO PLACES??????

I love this app for sharing check ins. I rather keeping it only on Foursquare and not linking it to facebook !
